China has explored trade relationships with many different nations. The latest nations that will see large scale trade opportunities with the Asian country are the Caribbean and Latin America. The seat of this cooperation will be in Zhuhai, where an expo will take place. The theme of the expo is “Truly Connected” and will serve as a platform to show off many goods to investors from the Caribbean and Latin America. Xi Jinping has personally endorsed the meeting, saying that the relationship China has with these countries is blessed with good conditions and has good opportunities for further development.
The expo will take place in Zhuhai’s free trade zone, a manufacturing hub in the south of the city that offers many benefits to manufacturers and investors. The location of this zone is right across from Macao, separated by a narrow channel. Direct access to Macao makes for easier access to western markets. It is also close to other manufacturing hub cities such as Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Many infrastructure projects in the Free Trade Zone are ongoing, such as convention centers and hotels. Many Multinational corporations have already invested in the Free Trade Zone, and it will no doubt continue to grow and prosper.
This development is very important for various reasons. The first is that China is continuing to open itself up economically to outside forces, presenting trade opportunities to all parties involved in China. These proceedings cement Zhuhai as one of the most attractive regions in China for investment. There is no doubt that the addition of the Latin America and Caribbean markets will drive a lot of business to China and open up avenues for existing business people in the Zhuhai area. If there was ever a good time to invest in southern Guangdong, it’s now. This expo is further highlighted by the opening of the Zhuhai-Macao-Hong Kong Bridge that is set to open later this year.
